the victim was unable to give a description of the men. anyone with impression should call the state police. >> police are on the hunt tonight for group of men who attacked and killed a teenager in patterson park, all wearing ski masks. it happened just after sundown last night along the 3000 like a baltimore street in south east baltimore. a 19-rolle man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. -- in 19-year-old man. at this hour it is unclear if the shooting was random or targeted, and police are trying to determine a motive. there is a great tonight in the search for the person who killed a national institutes of health researcher last month. police are releasing surveillance images of two men they are calling persons of interest. they are asking anyone who may recognize the men in this picture to come forward.

police said they found 51-year- old dr. peter marvit gunned down after he arrived, after choir practice. there's a theory that he might have been mistaken for a food delivery person because he was carrying bags when he got out of his car. >> heavy rain battered parts of central maryland throughout the day. this was the scene for the last few hours in cockeysville. the question now, will the wet roads play a role in the evening commute? >> unfortunately it looks like the rain is already causing problems out on the roads. traffic reports are already listed numerous delays out there right now. we can see it tracking along 95 from columbia and headed down towards d.c.

thousands of years. new polls today show the race for the white house is tight and the tipping. could be tomorrow night's presidential debate. audience members will likely get the chance to ask questions of president obama and mitt romney. steve handelsman is in washington with more on how important the debate is for both candidates. >> it was mitt romney is numbers that moved the most after the last debate. the pressure this time is on the incumbent. president obama, whose last public break from the bait camp was yesterday, is being warned not to overcorrection be too aggressive tomorrow night. the town hall style debate -- yes, he needs to show he is tupper but he does not want to come across as a bully. for mitt romney, the advice he is getting is to engage with the questioner.

[monotone] she says, "switch to progressive and you could save hundreds." call or click today. x the two prince george's a county officers accused of assaulting a student are on trial. the incident was caught by a cell phone camera. barry simms has more on that story. >> john mckenna was a 21-year- old university of maryland junior when he was involved in an altercation with prince george's county police. he suffered a large cut to his

head, and as you mentioned, two officers are now on trial. following a maryland terrapins basketball victory over duke, this video was shot from a dorm window in 2010. it led to outrage and indictments of the prince george's county officers reginald baker and james harrison. both are charged with assault and misconduct in office. they are charged with slamming john mckenna in tool wall and beating him without provocation. they said the officers abused power, wrote trust, and violated the law, and must be held accountable. mckenna was described as an aggressive agitator. originally, mckenna was arrested and charged with attacking the officers, but those charges were dropped. >> it is sickening to see an innocent kid like that beaten to

that amount of severity. >> and other video was shot using a cellphone. that video was never shown to the public but was played for the jury. he graduated from maryland in 2011 and works for a baltimore county firm. testified he did not seek mckenna acting aggressively toward the horses or the mounted officers. >> he had no threatening stance, no threatening manner. he did not threaten the cops. the next thing you know he was blindsided, his head slammed into the wall, and was beaten several more times while he was not even resisting. it completely breaches the resist of course continue of. it may be so sick to see that and the pool of blood afterwards. that is someone's son. if that was my brother, i would be infuriated. i was compelled to come here and tell what actually happened.

>> jurors also heard from the victim, john mckenna. he said he had been drinking and went outside to celebrate maryland's win. he testified from there on, things are fuzzy. he remembers getting hit with a police shield, and after that, being put in a paddy wagon. mckenna says he never heard them telling the crowd to get back or to disperse. the trial is expected to last a week. >> an investigation is underway into what sparked the mass of flames at a vacant house in churchville last night. it took six departments more than three hours to get everything under control. officials say that is because the flames were so intense and there were no fire hydrants in the area. the required backup from nearby counties. a state fire marshal is looking into the cause.

>> a live look out of doors south of franklin boulevard, the traffic to the left of the screen is traveling northbound toward reisterstown. the rain is starting to taper down across the northwest expressway. let's look at the radar to see what we are dealing with the plan to get out on the road. the heaviest rain is falling southwest of baltimore and along 95 as well. these are the two areas that will have the most weather delays. light rain all across the baltimore metro area right now, heading up to the northern part of the beltway. there are still a few more showers creeping up on the radar into montgomery county. that is what we will have to watch for as the showers continue to migrate into the metro area.

a pretty warm day when you look at the almanac. we were at 71 degrees this afternoon at bwi thurgood marshall airport. the morning low was the big one, 64 degrees, compared to the normal low in the 40's for this time of year. the rankle there is starting to move then, 69 downtown, 66 at the airport. notice how the temperatures continue to drop in the western part of the state's, the cold front is weeping by. that is causing the rain showers right now. we already had a bad move from baltimore and here comes the next round. there could be a few more developing into the next couple of hours and then we will dry out once this front passes us by. high pressure will build and on the back side and be pretty nice weather into tomorrow, when it will be slightly cooler. you can see the blue starting to dip into the great lakes region.

the cold air spills then out of canada -- of canada. a drop in the temperatures, but drier conditions coming up in the extended forecast. bashar should be ending by about 10:00 p.m. tonight and it will be around 53 downtown, the upper 40's as you get out into the suburbs. much more sunshine tomorrow. high temperatures will be cooler. that takes us to the seven-day forecast. we are expecting temperatures to hold steady for the next couple of days. 66 amar, 68 on wednesday. but thursday we will see a few clouds start to increase with 70 for the high temperature and a chance for a few rain showers late thursday night into friday morning. friday is the best chance to seek our next round of rain with a high of 68 degrees. 63 with a coup or high

as a pastor, my support for question 6 is rooted in my belief that the government should treat everyone equally. i wouldn't want someone denying my rights based upon their religious views, so i shouldn't deny others based upon mine. it's about fairness. i support this law because it doesn't force any church to perform a same sex marriage if it's against their beliefs. and that's what this is about. protecting religious freedom and all marylanders equally under the law. join me in voting for question 6.

>> the deadline is looming tonight for all marylanders who wish to vote in the presidential election. you don't register to vote by tomorrow night at 9:00, your voice will not be heard on november 6. >> this year, things are a bit different. sarah has more on what you can expect. >> whether you want to cast a ballot for mitt romney or barack obama, or you want to make your voice heard on several high- profile issues, the deadline to register to vote is tuesday at 9:00 p.m. now there is another way. but you can register to vote on line this year. go to the maryland state board of elections website. >> the process does not take long and be director says it

i can let you know that all ballots are processed and if they are eligible and register to vote, they do count. >> you only need identification if it is your first time voting. >> as they continue to push their constituents to register to vote, the supreme court has agreed to review a federal appeals court ruling that blocked an arizona voting law. the 2012 law requires proof of citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections. federal law allows voters to fill up a voter registration card and swear they are citizens. in the meantime, the law will remain suspended. >> here is a look at some of our other top stories at this hour. a very costly ravens gain yesterday. head coach john harbaugh announced that boat ray lewis

and lardarius webb both suffered season-ending injuries. that news came down in the last half-hour or so. ray lewis suffered a complete tricep tear during their win over the cowboys yesterday. those big losses are on top of the team already being without veteran linebacker terrell suggs. two police officers accused of assaulting a university of maryland student two years ago are now on trial. that incident was caught on a self on camera. james harrison and reginald thomas are accused of assaulting john mckenna. the two officers were indicted last year after a lengthy investigation. anne arundel county police have arrested 218-year-old men in connection with the fatal shooting outside a house party in pasadena. the shooting happened on saturday around 1:30 a.m.

ronald li mcleod of columbia and daniel alex savage of glen burnie have been charged with first-degree murder and other charges. the second victim was taken to hospital with non life- threatening injuries. >> growing confidence in the economy as americans shopping and spending more. the commerce department said september retail sales showed strong gains for the second month in a row. economists are still urging caution. >> economists say the spending increase is in no way a consumer revival. the numbers are up, but still lower than they would like. consumers bought more just about everything last month, especially electronics. the commerce department says retailers reported more than four hundred billion dollars in sales last month. an overall increase of 1.1%

>> the search continues for two maryland men missing after a hike in glacier national park. conditions are making the effort particularly challenging. they are originally from western maryland. both men were reported missing after failing to catch a flight home.

>> a number of families of 9/11 victims are expected to be able to watch the pretrial hearings going on in cuba are for five men charged in the terrorist attacks. relatives who registered can see them on closed-circuit television at fort hamilton, which is a u.s. army base. the hearings will be shown in some other areas. >> the captain of the costa concordia cruise ship that ran aground off the coast of italy is in court this week for pretrial hearings. the 51-year-old has rarely been seen in public since the tragedy on january 13. today, prosecutors and lawyers presented to the court the black boxes evidence. 32 people were killed. >> the 14-year-old pakistani girl shot by the taliban because

she was pushing for greater access to women to education is now headed to the united kingdom for further treatment. >> doctors say she requires prolonged care to recover from the physical and psychological effects of the attack. >> the school girl was shot simply for speaking out. now doctors from around the world are fighting to save her. she is flying to the uk for specialist treatment to her head injury. the 14-year-old girl called for young girls to be educated and independent. there has been a wave of public revulsion in pakistan and around the world for this attempt to obstruct the education of the young generation. but she was targeted by the taliban, but the attack has turned many against them.

washington parkway. you'll have to watch out for that you plan to be out on the roads. there are some areas of light rain you have to watch out for. look back on the radar, it looks like more of light rain tracking into the northern tier of montgomery county. we are not done with the rain just yet. the heaviest rain is south and east of the baltimore metro area. this is coming in with the latest cold front. ahead of this we have already seen some rain showers throughout the day, but not that much accumulation. only those isolated areas have we seen a half-inch to an inch of rain. that is indicated by the darker shades of green. in montgomery county and some areas up in cecil county. we have not seen too much widespread throughout. a few of the isolated areas are going to see some heavier rain. we hit 71 degrees for the high

temperature at the airport. the low this morning was 64, well above average. normally we are in the 40's this time of year. you can already see the rain cooled air bringing the temperature down to 69. this is what we are dealing with right now, the rain showers along a cold front still pushing on and we expect that clearing to come late into the night as the high pressure does filter into the area. the next thing we have to watch out for comes at the late in of the week. you can see the cool air coming in with this first front. notice how the blue shades are starting to drop down to the great lakes region. we do have some '60s dipping down into kentucky and tennessee. there will be a drop in temperatures behind this brought. tonight will be much cooler,

closer to average. near 53 degrees downtown but over 40's as you get out into the suburbs. most of the shower should be ending by about 10:00 p.m. and then we will have clearing skies throughout the night. the sun will rise at 7:18 in the morning hours. mid-60's does it for most of us with mostly sunny skies, much cooler in the mountains. that takes us to the seven-day forecast. we stayed in the 60's through wednesday with sunshine and a high-pressure system, more clouds increasing on thursday with a high of 70. friday is the next chance of rain. we should dry out by the weekend, but it will be a little bit cooler. >> there is a lawsuit accusing morgan stanley of discriminating against black homeowners and violating federal civil rights laws. the claims cumber from the

american civil liberties union and others on behalf of five detroit residents and michigan legal services. they say morgan stanley pushed new century to issue certain types of loans with no concern about risk because it made its profit at the outset when the investment bank bundle securities into lungs and then sold them. morgan stanley says it believes the allegations are completely without merit and plans to defend itself vigorously. if you want a kendall -- if you bought a kindle, you may be entitled to a refund. some publishers were accused of conspiring in a price-fixing scheme. kindle customers will be contacted when the credit is applied to their account. customers do not need to do anything to get the credit.

the holiday season is ahead. best buy is looking to keep up with the online sites like amazon. many shoppers go into a store to check out an item, but then go home to order it online for a cheaper price. beginning now until christmas eve, amazon is offering to match online -- best buy is offering to match online prices and if the item is not in the store, they will send that would free shipping. we all know is important to do some background checking before you make a purchase, but be careful. you cannot believe everything you read, especially when it comes to on-line reviews. a new study uncovered that some of them are just made up. false reviews are on the rise and the ftc has sued and forced some retailers to pay fines.
